Birthday Card - For Me??

I had to share this wonderful card my cousin made!

My husband knows how much I love hand-made cards, and how much I admire my wonderful cousin Becky's scrapbooking, so he solicited her help to make me a birthday card that he could give me.
The front has amazing colors and bling (gotta love bling!), and is just wonderful!

It is amazing, not only did she make the front gorgeous, she had space on the inside for writing!  She never ceases to amaze me with her work!  :)

I love it!  :)

Happy Birthday Card

Spring is one of the busiest times for birthdays and celebrations in our family, and here is yet another birthday card I made.  Normally, yellow is not a favorite color of mine, but this card pops and is high on the charts for one of my favorites. :)

First, I chose two coordinating papers from my DCWV Street Lace Stack.  I love the look and feel of the papers.   The top patterned paper has this slightly raised edge so you can barely feel the black design.

I adhered them to my Recollections card stock.
Next I chose a yellow textured border strip from DCWV's border stack.  I used my Martha Stewart Crafts edge punch to add a unique design to the bottom half.
Then, I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment from Inkadinkadoo to the yellow card stock.  I went over it with a black glitter gel pen to really make the words pop out.

Before I adhered it to the seam of the card, I then used yellow ribbon (Offray) to dress up the top part of the strip.  This was the tricky part, as I folded it over numerous times to add dimension.  I added a bow on the left hand side and secured in place with a black button brad (Making Memories) and then adhered to the card.

I just love the colors and look of this card! :)

Thank you card - For Beckers

I recently have had good reason to give thanks to people in my life, and part of doing that is making them a custom card.  This card is for my cousin Becky, who is also a fellow scrapper.  I always admire her work and look forward to hanging out with her and "scrap lifting" her ideas!

On this card, I wanted to use her favorite colors: black and pink.  I started to sift through my papers, and settled on a pink shiny piece from DCWV the Street Lace Card stock Stack (top piece), a piece of black glittered paper (Colorbok) and a piece of white/black design that has a velvet feel (Me and My Big Ideas).

I first adhered the shiny pink and velvet black/white sheets to the card stock (Recollections) after trimming down.  Then, I used my Martha Stewart Craft punch to trim the black glitter's edge.  I then added Offray pink ribbon to the middle and adhered over the seam of the the two other papers on the card.  I then used a black ribbon by Offray and tied a bow and adhered to the right side of the card.

Then on the top pink shiny part, I used Recollections stickers to spell out Thanks (I first used these stickers on a scrap-day with Becky because she uses them, and fell in love, so it was only fitting to use them on her card!).  I then added three Recollections adhesive pink gems on the right for a finishing touch (and also because Becky loves the bling!).

She loved the card, and it served it's purpose to give thanks!  :)

Love Card - For a Contest

For the Stamping Royalty card I had entered this card in the love category.

I love the colors on this card!! I just love black and teal together!
To start off, I cut down a piece of black card stock (Recollections) with my Martha Steward Crafts edge punch.  Later, I would add Recollections adhesive teal gems to the center of some of the flowers to further tie together the colors.

Next, I cut down a teal piece of card stock (Recollections) and used the same punch on the bottom portion of the paper.  I then used my corner rounder from Creative Memories to round the top two corners.  I used this stamp sentiment from Autumn Leaves, as I thought it was so perfect to represent love (blooms once=soul mate). Later I would add black gems (Recollections) to bring out colors on the teal background.

I adhered the teal to the black card stock, then I laid it on top of the white card stock (Recollections) to formulate the size.  I then took out a small "Love" sentiment stamp and stamped the bottom of the card in teal. It is hard to see, as I added a little tulle to the bottom of the card for dimension and flair.

I really "love" the look on this card, not the classical love you find with hearts and pink (although there is nothing wrong with that either!  :)

Contest Card - Thank You

Well, as many of you know the crowned winners have been announced for the Stamping Royalty contest by  Paper Crafts Magazine on their blog.  I was one of the many, many entries to have submitted work in hopes of earning my tiara, and although I did not win, I had a BLAST testing out my skills and submitting my work.  Here is one of the cards I made, this one was in the Thank You category.

To begin with, I covered the card in basic black card stock (Recollections), and then picked out coordinating green colored patterned papers (DCWV, Creative Memories) and used my square punch from Creative Memories to cut them down.

Before I adhered them to the page, I stamped two with a Thank You very much stamp I had.  It was tricky, as the stamp is meant to read it all together, so I taped it up to get the look I wanted (Stamp & Ink - Studio G).

I then adhered all the squares to the page in a grid-like format, and added a flower center by layering different flowers.  The bottom large green is a Prima flower, the black middle is a punched flower (EK Success) and the top flower is from Making Memories. I used a gem brad from Making Memories to post it to the card.  Once all was added to the black background, I adhered the black to the card (card stock- Recollections).

Lastly, I added Recollections adhesive gems to add a little eye "jazz".  :)  I love the look and color of the card!
